Yankee Power
02:01
|
|
||
Big ol' source of water
Conveniently placed railroad track
Adoring public standing at our back
Oh,
The future of power is finally here
and it runs clean and green and efficiently
And you can trust it in the hands
of private industry
Rowe
Will never know
What hit them
What hit them
When the nuclear power plant comes to town
Two years of construction
Before they can finally hit the lights
But pretty soon it's bringing power
To long New England nights
Helped to life by someone who
Cauterized World War II
And sponsored fully
By consolidated power companies
Woah,
Rowe's gonna grow
With a budget of $52 million
When the nuclear power plant
Comes to town
Woah,
Rowe
is gonna here from the
New England Coalition
when the nuclear power plant
coms to town
Oh,
Rowe
Will never know
What hit them
What hit them
When the nuclear power plant
Comes to town

Twenty-Something Life

I'm getting real goddamn sick of this bedroom
I wanna trade it for a room with a view
Getting sick of working this job
And the constant lack of letters from you
Wanna climb in my old blue sedan and
Finally go find my scene
Cause I just turned twenty years old
But I still live like I'm sixteen
Oh, I'll pack my bags and hit my lights
I'm moving on with my Twenty-Something Life
I'm gonna get up in the evening
And stay out til the sun comes round
Gonna know every cool corner of
Every cool building in the goddamn town
Gonna see shows every weekend
And know all the bandmates too
And one of these days, I swear,
I'm gonna say something cool
Oh, I wouldn't call it wanderlust, just my cultural birthright
I'm moving on with my Twenty-Something Life
Oh, I sure do love you baby, and I promise that I'll write
But I'm moving on with my Twenty-Something Life
I'm moving on with my Twenty-Something Life

Reckoning
02:28
|
|
||
Out of shape
Out of place
Running late for our meeting
This afternoon
Out of touch
Ain't got much
Just hold tight, I swear
I'll be there soon
Running wild in the places that nobody even goes
Sending messages in a language that nobody even knows
Do you see what I mean about our secret codes?
When the Reckoning comes round
Bring them in
Let them see
All the different things I've
Done to me
All these wounds
Self-inflicted
I should be evicted
From civilized society
Running wild in the places that nobody even goes
Sending messages in a language that nobody even knows
Do you see what I mean about our secret codes?
When the Reckoning comes round
When the Reckoning comes round

Hot Garden Stomp
02:27
|
|
||
Heat rises every day
See the grasses start to turn
Watch the news and wonder
How much of California's even left to burn?
Got your letter in the mail
From way down in Pahokee
Sometimes I feel like my life is
A Mountain Goats song from 1993
Yeah
Nothing left of my garden by now
Just dead peas and dried up tomato vines
Yeah, the summer finally killed it
For good this time
And when you finally come around
I will tie my mask so tight
And when we do what you came here to do
I'm finally gonna be alright
I'm gonna be alright
Woah

Well, you know you're not as good as the average person playing music. You're not even half as good as the average asshole in his basement. And why'd you pick a name as common as The Entertainment? And to that end, why would you even have a band and name it? Cause there are people out there right now who could put your shit to shame. And most of all those people, you will never know their names. Because they have the humility to not demand devotion. Posting shit on the internet. Oh, the shameless self-promotion.
Why do you even try at all? Do you think only the biggest names can fall? Do you really believe there's no such thing as a bad song? Well, at lest then you're unique enough to be the only person who's ever got it wrong.
Spending long nights all alone getting drunk in a motel room in a far away city that you will never go to is the ideal that you strive for every single time you pick up your fucking guitar and you make a shitty rhyme. Well, there are people out there right now who actually have it hard while you sit up in your bedroom, gazing out at your front yard wondering when the day will come when your can finally get away from the perfect life that you get to live every single day.
Why do you even try at all? Does the privileged life you lead make you feel small? Do you really believe that, one day, you won't do this any more? Narcissistic, nihilistic, self-obsessive fuck like you? I wouldn't be so sure.
"WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?
I REALLY DON'T KNOW
SEEING SIGNS OF SNOW
WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?"
